But if You know that it is bad for me, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and instead decree what is better for me and make me content with it.

Allāhumma innī astakhīruka biʿilmika wa astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa asʾaluka min faḍlika (a)l-ʿaẓīm fainnaka taqdiru walā aqdiru wa taʿlamu wala aʿlamu wa anta ʿallāmu (a)l-ghuyūb. Allāhumma, in kunta taʿlamu anna hadha (a)l-amra [mention decision here] khayrun lī fī dīnī wa maʿāshī waʿāqibati amrī faqdurhu lī wa ya (a)s-sirhu lī thumma barik lī fīhi. Does Istikhara dua have to be in Arabic?
No, it is not strictly required to recite Istikhara in Arabic, though it is preferred if possible.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) taught the du’a in Arabic, so scholars recommend:
- If you know Arabic, it is best to recite it in the original wording.
- If you do not know Arabic, you may sincerely make the du’a in your own language, especially outside the formal prayer.
Inside the salah, opinions differ, but many scholars allow non-Arabic speakers to recite it, particularly in voluntary prayers. Understanding your words sincerely is more important than mere repetition.
Does Istikhara prayer always work?

Does Istikhara have to be done at night?

Does Istikhara come in dreams?
Dreams are sometimes thought to give answers, but according to the Sunnah, dreams can be:
