Welcome to Istikhara.app. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by the Terms of Use set out below. Please read these terms carefully before using the services provided by Istikhara.app.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms of Use, please do not use the website or its services.
1. About Istikhara.app
Istikhara.app is an online service that provides Quran-based Istikhara results. The purpose of the website is to provide a simple tool for individuals who, after reflection, consideration of the relevant circumstances, and consultation with knowledgeable people, remain uncertain about whether to proceed with a particular matter.
The results provided by this website are not intended to replace reason, research, consultation with qualified and knowledgeable individuals, or your personal responsibility when making decisions.
2. How Istikhara Results Are Provided
Istikhara.app uses a method based on the random selection of one of the pages of the Quran. The Istikhara result is presented based on the opening verse of the selected page.
This method has been designed with reference to methods of performing Quranic Istikhara reported in Islamic sources. Different Islamic traditions and scholarly opinions may differ regarding the manner of performing Istikhara, its recommended practices, and the interpretation of its results.
Accordingly, Istikhara.app does not claim that this is the only valid method of performing Quranic Istikhara, nor does it claim that every Istikhara result is binding on every individual or applicable in every circumstance.
For further information about the nature and limitations of the results provided by Istikhara.app, please review our Disclaimer.
3. Appropriate Use of Istikhara
In Islamic tradition, Istikhara is generally associated with situations in which a person remains uncertain after considering the matter carefully and consulting knowledgeable and experienced people.
Istikhara should not be used habitually for every minor decision or as a substitute for reason, knowledge, careful consideration, or consultation.
It should not be used as a means of avoiding personal responsibility for a decision or replacing a reasonable assessment of the actual circumstances and potential consequences of a matter.
4. Istikhara for Marriage, Employment, and Important Decisions
Users may seek an Istikhara result through Istikhara.app in relation to matters such as marriage, choosing a spouse, employment, business, financial transactions, and other significant decisions.
However, the result provided by Istikhara.app should not, by itself, be treated as the sole basis for making such decisions.
Important decisions should also take into account the actual circumstances, available information, potential consequences, advice from qualified or experienced individuals, and other relevant factors.
In particular, for matters involving marriage, financial affairs, medical issues, legal matters, or employment, an Istikhara result is not a substitute for obtaining appropriate professional advice where necessary.
5. Istikhara Is Not Fortune-Telling
The results provided by Istikhara.app are not intended to predict the future with certainty, reveal matters of the unseen, or guarantee that a particular event will occur.
Terms such as “favorable,” “not recommended,” or other descriptions used in the results should be understood within the context of Istikhara as spiritual guidance in a situation of uncertainty, and not as a definitive prediction of future events.
No result provided by this website guarantees that a particular decision will result in success, failure, marriage, wealth, employment, profit, loss, or any other specific outcome.
6. Is Following an Istikhara Result Obligatory?
Istikhara.app does not issue personal religious rulings and does not determine what is religiously obligatory for any individual based on an Istikhara result.
Islamic scholars and schools of thought may hold different views regarding how a person should respond to an Istikhara result and the extent to which it should be followed.
If you are uncertain about whether you should act according to an Istikhara result, or about the religious significance or effect of Istikhara on your decision, you should consult your marja’, qualified Islamic scholar, or another trusted religious authority.
7. Repeating an Istikhara
Repeating an Istikhara solely because the initial result is unfavorable or contrary to one’s wishes is generally discouraged.
Repeatedly seeking another result simply in the hope of obtaining a preferred answer may undermine the purpose of Istikhara, which is traditionally associated with seeking guidance after reflection and consultation.
If the circumstances surrounding the matter have substantially changed, or if you are uncertain about whether a new Istikhara is appropriate, you should consult a qualified religious authority.
8. No Guarantee
Istikhara.app makes reasonable efforts to provide its services accurately and reliably. However, we do not guarantee:
- that the website will always be available or uninterrupted;
- that the website or its services will always be free from technical errors or defects;
- that a particular result will be suitable or applicable to the circumstances of a specific individual;
- that an Istikhara result will correspond to the actual outcome of a decision in the future; or
- that using or following an Istikhara result will lead to any particular outcome or consequence.
Istikhara is a spiritual practice, and the ultimate decision and responsibility for its consequences remain with the individual.
9. User Responsibility
You are responsible for decisions you make based on information, results, or content provided through Istikhara.app.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Istikhara.app shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, incorrect decision, or direct or indirect consequence arising from the interpretation or use of an Istikhara result, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
10. Religious Content and Interpretation
Religious content available on Istikhara.app is provided for general informational and educational purposes concerning Quranic Istikhara. It should not be understood as a personal fatwa, religious ruling, or official statement of any particular Islamic scholar or marja’.
If you have a religious question concerning the validity of a particular method, the proper manner of performing Istikhara, the interpretation of a result, or whether and how you should act upon it, you should consult reliable Islamic sources and, where appropriate, a qualified Islamic scholar or religious authority.
11. Acceptable Use of the Website
