About Istikhara.app
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Istikhara.app is an online platform created to make Quranic Istikhara accessible to people who are seeking spiritual guidance when facing uncertainty or hesitation in an important decision.
The word Istikhara comes from the Arabic root related to seeking what is good. In the Islamic tradition, Istikhara is associated with seeking guidance and asking Allah for what is best, particularly when a person remains uncertain after thinking carefully about a matter and consulting knowledgeable and trustworthy people.
Our goal is simple: to provide a convenient and respectful way for people to perform an Istikhara with the Quran online.
Our Approach
At Istikhara.app, we believe that Istikhara should not replace reason, careful consideration, or consultation.
Important decisions deserve thoughtful attention. A person should consider the circumstances, gather relevant information, seek advice from experienced and trustworthy people, and make a sincere effort to understand what is best before turning to Istikhara when uncertainty remains.
For this reason, we present Istikhara as a form of spiritual guidance, rather than as a tool for predicting the future or avoiding personal responsibility.
How Istikhara.app Works
Our Quranic Istikhara service uses a method based on the random selection of one of the pages of the Quran.
Once a page is selected, the opening verse of that page is used as the basis for the Istikhara result.
The result is then presented together with relevant information to help the user understand the verse and its general indication in the context of Istikhara.
Each request generates a new random selection and does not depend on the user’s previous activity or previous results.
This approach is intended to provide a simple and transparent online implementation of a Quran-based Istikhara method. Islamic scholars and traditions may differ regarding the methods, recommended practices, and interpretation of Istikhara, and we do not claim that our method is the only valid approach.
A Spiritual Tool, Not Fortune-Telling
Istikhara.app does not claim to predict the future or reveal matters of the unseen.
An Istikhara result should not be understood as a guarantee that a particular event will happen or that a particular decision will necessarily lead to success or failure.
Rather, the result should be approached as spiritual guidance in a situation where a person remains uncertain after reflection and consultation.
The ultimate decision remains with the individual, together with their responsibility to consider the circumstances and consequences of that decision.
For Important Decisions
People may seek Istikhara regarding many areas of life, including:
- Marriage and choosing a spouse
- Employment and career decisions
- Business and financial matters
- Important personal choices
- Other situations in which a person remains uncertain
For significant matters, we encourage users to consider practical information and seek appropriate advice before relying on an Istikhara result.
An Istikhara result is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or other specialized advice.
Our Religious Position
Istikhara.app aims to present Quranic Istikhara respectfully and in accordance with established Islamic concepts and sources.
However, we are not a religious authority, Islamic seminary, or source of personal fatwas. Islamic scholars and schools of thought may have different views regarding the details of Istikhara, its recommended practices, and how its results should be understood.
If you have a specific religious question about performing Istikhara, interpreting a result, repeating an Istikhara, or whether you should act upon a particular result, we encourage you to consult your marja’, qualified Islamic scholar, or trusted religious authority.
Accessible Across Languages
Istikhara is practiced and appreciated by Muslims around the world. We aim to make the service accessible to a broader international audience by providing content in multiple languages.
While translations can help make the information accessible, users should keep in mind that translations and interpretations may not fully convey every linguistic or scholarly nuance of the original Arabic Quranic text.
Privacy and Simplicity
We believe that using an Istikhara service should be simple and respectful of user privacy.
Istikhara.app does not require users to create an account or provide their name, email address, phone number, or other personal information in order to receive an Istikhara result.
The service does not maintain a personal history of a user’s previous Istikhara results for the purpose of generating future results. Each request is treated independently.
For more information about technical data, analytics, cookies, and privacy practices, please read our Privacy Policy.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is not to tell people what they must do.
It is to provide a simple and accessible way for those who seek Quranic Istikhara to pause, reflect, and seek spiritual guidance when they find themselves uncertain.
We hope Istikhara.app can serve as a useful and respectful digital resource for Muslims seeking guidance while keeping the principles of reflection, consultation, trust in Allah, and personal responsibility at the center of the decision-making process.
May Allah guide us all toward what is best and grant us wisdom in our choices.
